spikegifted - Desktop images

The following is a collection of desktop screen captures of MainStation, my computer. It is equipped with two monitors, each has resolution of 1920 x 1080 at 32 bit color depth. The resultant desktop is 3840 x 1080. (It used to be 1600 x 1200 x 2 which resulted in total desktop size of 3200 x 1200.) Due to the fact that dual-screen (or even multiple screens) setups are the exception rather than the rule even in everyday computer usage (unless you work in areas like the trading floor of an investment bank, IT development or computer-based graphics design, or you're a day trader), I've noticed there are few desktop images available on the public domain that are specifically designed to be displayed over two monitors. The result is that people are either tiling their graphics or simply display a small image in the middle of the desktop.

Having used dual screen setup since 1998, I have been experimenting different methods to utilize large images as desktop backgrounds. The collection of background images are sourced from postcards, magazines and other sources. I am too embarrassed of my lack of creativity to put all them on show. However, the following is a small sample of them... Each of them is linked to the full size image. If you find any of the backgrounds interesting and like to obtain the images, please let me know.

However, I've 'archived' the older (pre-July 2005) desktop captures as I don't really see the point the having all these full size images kept on the server. However, should you be interested in any of those older desktop backgrounds, I'd be happy to forward the backgrounds, if circumstances allow me to do so.
